More Boating Safety Classes Now Available — Don’t Miss Your Chance to Get Certified!

If you missed the Massachusetts Basic Boating Safety Course we hosted in February, good news: more sessions have been scheduled, and registration is open now.

As a reminder, recent Massachusetts law requires motorized boat and personal watercraft operators to complete a state-approved boater safety education course. The deadline for completing a boater safety course and passing a certification exam is either April 1, 2026, or April 1, 2028, depending on your birth date.

The Pembroke Watershed Association is continuing to work with the Massachusetts Environmental Police to help connect local residents with free, in-person certification opportunities.

Upcoming Sessions

  • Hanson Police Department — 775 Main St, Hanson
    Saturday, April 25 & Sunday, April 26 | 9 AM – 3 PM each day
  • Marshfield Harbormaster Office — 100 Central St, Marshfield
    Monday, May 4; Wednesday, May 5; & Friday, May 8 | 5 PM – 8 PM each day

… plus Quincy, Nantasket, Bridgewater and more!

Visit the Massachusetts Environmental Police website to see the complete list and to register. But don’t wait too long; classes are filling up quickly!

These courses provide official state certification upon completion and are offered at no charge — a value compared to typical online courses that carry a fee.

Please note: Participants must be at least 12 years old. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The PWA is also continuing to explore the possibility of bringing another session directly to Pembroke — stay tuned for updates!
